Quercus Douglasii:
Blue Oak is native and endemic to California. During the gold rush, blue oak was cut primarily for mining timbers and fuel wood. It isn’t commonly used today as a commercial lumber as it is difficult to get lumber quality pieces, and it is difficult to dry properly – it likes to twist and turn. But on the smaller scale, once dry, blue oak is quite attractive. Many of the pieces we carry have a primitive rustic look. Once dry, there is no reason not to try blue oak lumber for your projects.
