Cudrania tricuspidata;

Chinese Mulberry was first brought to the US for silk production.  The Chinese Mulberry trees that are lumber was taken from were initially planted in Yuba county pre WWII.  Most were removed at the onset of the war in favor of a food crop, (peaches).  A few remained as decorative trees, and the trees we have needed to be removed for safety reasons as they had since died.

This tree is not typically sawn for it’s lumber value so there is not “official” documentation that we have although it may exist somewhere.  We have used it for some of our own personal projects and were very happy with it – when finished several colors including purples, peaches, pinks, and creams pop from this wood.
